photos of waterfalls, boerne texas historic building and wterfalls, etc
My new, 3 months old, Western digital 2 TB hard drive failed. I had most everything backed up. Except some photos I took in Junction, TX in February with my brother Ted. All I have left of them are some e-mail copies at 72 dpi. Oh well.
I sent the hard drive to SalvageData.com. They retrieved 500gb of 750gb total. Those photos were not part of them. When they sent me the recovery, which I was told was 700+ GB they sent a not activated, never been used external hdd. I called them and told them this. I was informed my damaged drive would have to be reread. This time data was there but only 500gb.They sent me back my damaged drive. I ran DDRESCUE on it and recovered 600GB. 100 more than they did, but those photos were not there. So I spent nearly $1000 for a $130 external hard drive.
When I contacted their sales guy, John, he said the missing 200GB was the boot sector. INCREDIBLE!!!
Also, I had told them if they could not make the replacement drive bootable DVD’s were ok with me.
Plus on MY recovery, by running check disk and then Windows recovery. I had a bootable drive.
A very expensive lesson.
